Event Introduction

Where moments of crisis are also moments of faith in the healing force of language thriving in an alternate universe of valuation, the small presses we hold dear — Black Radish to Belladonna* to Yo-Yo’s flowing from the Dancing Girl’s wrists. Kimberly knows many of us work our I’s out in our books, our books working out our I’s, allowing for a breathing space where empire and Filipinx may be examined and aired, the projection of the field humming like a vibration attuned to frequency of muse, a communion between poet & page, word & movement, utterance & gesture. When we help the dreamer create the vision in the waking world, Kimberly knows rookie mistakes are par for the course, mistakes bring us into shaping our creation. What we do in the work & what we do in the reading may not always be the same thing, but, if the act is deeply felt, she feels the bodies and minds in attendance may move with us. So as humans in constant states of transition, let us attend to what is present & already arriving, let us give attention to the words at hand and experience the synesthesia Kimberly Alidio’s work creates together, dear audience. — Jeffrey Joe Nelson, Remotely Personal Greetings Readings
